Family Constellations

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I have to bring my relatives with me to the group?

No it is not necessary, other people can stand in the place of your family members. When they are set up, the representative’s feel like the people they represent without knowing them. The representatives do not have preconceived opinions or judgments about your family’s circumstances.

Do I have to represent if I come to a group?

You can say no when asked. If you say yes there is a possibility to move into other people’s system and in this way we learn from the inside about life and other people’s feelings and our own belonging to human kind. It is a very enriching experience.

What kind of information should I give?

Facts are all that are required. Information about feelings are not so helpful as this information will become very clear all by its self.

Can I bring a friend or relative for support?

Yes you can if it feels right for you. My experience is people become safe very fast in the groups. If you have no one you wish to bring the space of the group is gentle, confidential, warm and very hearty.

Is there any support after the group?

Yes all issue holders may call after the group if they need to. Sometimes a special kind of session maybe suggested to support the person.

Can I work on money or work issues?

Yes because our work and financial situation can be a reflection of our family system even if that does not appear obvious.

What is an ‘entanglement‘?

An entanglement means that somebody in the family unconsciously picks up the destiny of somebody who has gone before them in the family. The fate is lived out again because the person is entangled. The constellation process allows a person to be released to live there own fate.

What does the term ‘exclusion’ mean in family constellations?

These are the family members who have not been honoured or have been disowned by the family for one reason another. The effects of this are far reaching and even when they have no conscious knowledge of the person’s existences a family member in a further generation can take on this fate and live out a excluded life.

What are the different types of conscience?

Conscience is the dynamic force that lies behind the difficulties and the issues that we observe when working systemically. There are three types of conscience: personal, system, and greater.

Personal Conscience: serves in our group bonding, and it helps us to know what can and will be tolerated. It ties us to our families. It is experienced as guilt or innocence.

Systemic Conscience: This can only be viewed as harm is passed for one generation to the next. Love flows and blossoms in environment of systemic balance.

Conscience of the Greater Whole: Underlies the wholeness of being. Understanding this conscience is a spiritual movement.
