Wishes and Desires
Desire is like a begging bowl that cannot be filled
As one desire passes the next appears
They can lead us to our passions and goals
They can lead to addiction and obsession
They can lead to despair
Or even home to ourselves
This work invites you to consider consciously your desires and where they take you.
The wishing project took place in 2006, an interactive project involving the general public and sponsored by the Arts Council of Wales.
This was an opportunity to make a simple clay bowl whilst focusing on a wish, dream or desire, so that each bowl held the wish of its maker.
Some of the bowls were later joined together to make wish sculptures of positive energy, others were placed outside unfired and slowly melt away and be returned to the earth, as if just passing by like many of our wishes.
